Before anything else, I feel the need to present the mitigating circumstances. To explain just how tired and unfocused I was on that long, exhausting day that had me rolling from one errand to the next - from my daughter’s school afternoon event straight to a friend’s wedding. I'm giving all this detail to make it clear that there was exactly one brain cell working, and it was doing its best to keep things running.

On the way to the wedding, late in the evening, my partner was driving and I got a notification on my phone. My friend Neta had tagged me in the Israeli LARP group in response to someone looking for a 70cm latex sword - “in apple style.” In her tag, she told him that Apple is my second name.

Sure, I may have an iPhone, iWatch and a Mac, but my partner is the real Apple fanboy in this relationship - so Apple is might be my second name by marriage, but hey, close enough.

I started thinking about what a “sword in Apple style” would look like and how I’d even begin such a project. I imagined using white EVA foam, finishing it off with pearlescent pigment powder. The design would have to be minimalist and clean, something worthy of Apple’s aesthetic.

I asked my partner to generate some AI images of such a sword, and we mostly got blades with Apple logos on them. There was also a really funny image of two swords joined at the center…

The next day, I showed my partner the screenshot of the original post in the group, and he looked at me and said:
Dark (Afel). They meant dark.” (in Hebrew it's the same letters, with different punctuation)

We burst out laughing. Neta was right - Dark is absolutely my second name.
